Tom's hardware is carrying a review on Intel's new 4-core processor, which should roll out in October of this year, meaning that the average enthusiast should be able to take one home in 2008! In the meanwhile AMD is planning to roll out their Quad core solution sometime mid 2007. I noticed a massive difference in system responsiveness going from a single core to two cores, but two more cores will probably do little more than double my folding@home score!
