Dreamhost did something naughty which took a bite out of the wiki (as well as the wiki on my personal site), effectively disabling the wikitex functionality. I suspect it was a php upgrade, and after shitting myself for a couple of hours I learned that a mediawiki upgrade was in order. So everything is working now, not that anyone would notice =)
